New Year’s reflection and goals
New Year’s reflection and goals
The year of 2010 was very challenging for both school and life outside of school. In school, being a grade 12 student, tasks that had to be completed were very stressing. The course marks that I would accomplish would decide whether I would be qualified for a program in University. Although the tasks were very challenging, I had the right mindset to accomplish them.
One of the classes that presented the most tasks was Graphic Design. It tested my ability to design and complete a creative piece of art within a given amount of time. An example of these projects was creating our own watch design. That was not exactly the hard part. I had to learn how to use CorelDraw, the program that the class used to design their own watch. Designing my own watch the fun part. I was able to add my own taste, my own image of a new watch design. The final piece came out great and I was satisfied with my work. Also, I was content that I learned how to use a new program, since it gives me the opportunity to have a head start on a program that could be presented in certain university programs. Along the year of 2010, more projects came, such as designing the yearbook cover for the year, create our own business card and typography of our own portrait.
As for outside of school, I attained my G2 driver’s license. It seems that it’s tradition for high school students to obtain their G1 license upon turning 16 years old. I went on board with the tradition, and took my G1 license during the March break of 2010. By end of 2010, I have finished taking driving lesson and received my G2 driver’s license. I was excited in getting my driver’s license because it gives me a legal permission to drive a car. It also presents independency, because I’m now able to cruise around with a car. Obtaining my driver’s license would the highlight of 2010.
The coming of 2011 gave all of us the opportunity to set goals in life, so that we could better our chances of having a successful future. There are 3 goals that I hope to achieve in 2011. First, focus in school and improve my work habits. I get easily distracted from my education because of the things that offers me pleasure and fun. Playing excessive amount of time of video games distracted me from doing my homework, finishing due projects and my overall work habits. My plan is to lay off the video games, set my schoolwork as my primary task. In fact, this was my new year’s resolution. Secondly, I wish to enter a university program. I have signed up for programs that involved technology in various universities that specializes in that field. Achieving my first goal would be the key to unlocking this great opportunity for a student like myself. Lastly, I would like to complete my community volunteer hours. Although I had 15 hours so far, I have been searching for open opportunities that could help me complete my hours. Accomplishing all my goals would lead me to graduating from high school with great self-satisfaction and no regrets. As for the rest of 2011, I hope that it will be a prosperous and peaceful year for all humanity,YAY!
